Minnesota Conviction Search Available

January 26th, 2009

A new tool is available on Rochester911.com, allowing you to search the Minnesota Criminal Conviction database! This allows anyone, for free, to do a background search on a name and see if that person has been convicted of anything in the State of Minnesota in the past 15 years.

You can get to this page by clicking on the blue tab above labeled “Person Search”, or by going directly to the website http://www.rochester911.com/person-search/.

Minnesota Criminal Conviction Search

You can use this as a tool to help ensure people you are dealing with don’t have an unsavory history, or ensure the people you trust your children / loved ones with have a clean past. You can never be too careful when it comes to your safety and the safety of your family.

Remember though, this is just a repository of public information. Before anyone is denied employment, housing, or any other privilege based on this information, they should be afforded the opportunity to challenge the correctness or accuracy of this information. Fingerprints are the only sure way to verify an identity and tell if a person does or does not match up with the convictions on record.

Give the person search feature a try, and as always we welcome comments / suggestions on our new feature at info@rochester911.com.

Citizen Crime Reporting Website

January 13th, 2009

Just recently, the Rochester Police Department and the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office have introduced a new webpage where any citizen can submit a non-emergency crime report online! (Of course, if you ever have an emergency, call 9-1-1)

Rochester City Police and Olmsted County Sheriff Citizen Reporting Website

Online Citizen Crime Reporting

For select types of crimes, you can fill out this online form, and based on the information you submit you may be contacted by an Officer/Deputy or Investigator. Hopefully this will allow people to more easily communicate information to the police and help them solve some of the ongoing issues in our neighborhoods.

A link to this citizen reporting website will be incorporated into the Rochester911 incident map, to allow anyone with information about crimes that have been committed to click a quick link and submit information to law enforcement. If you have any questions about this Online Citizen Crime Reporting tool, you can contact the Rochester Police Department, or the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office.
