Shovel Out Your Hydrants

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

The Rochester Fire Department has been spreading the word of the importance of making sure your fire hydrants are shoveled out and clear of snow and ice. Any delay getting to a hydrant in an emergency can make the difference between putting out a small fire, or the total loss of a home.

The Fire Department has a message on their News & Events Page. Please do find the time to make your sideways, driveways, and hydrants accessible and safe to walk on. Thank you!

A new tool is available on Rochester911.com, allowing you to search the Minnesota Criminal Conviction database! This allows anyone, for free, to do a background search on a name and see if that person has been convicted of anything in the State of Minnesota in the past 15 years.

You can get to this page by clicking on the blue tab above labeled “Person Search”, or by going directly to the website http://www.rochester911.com/person-search/.

Minnesota Criminal Conviction Search

You can use this as a tool to help ensure people you are dealing with don’t have an unsavory history, or ensure the people you trust your children / loved ones with have a clean past. You can never be too careful when it comes to your safety and the safety of your family.

Remember though, this is just a repository of public information. Before anyone is denied employment, housing, or any other privilege based on this information, they should be afforded the opportunity to challenge the correctness or accuracy of this information. Fingerprints are the only sure way to verify an identity and tell if a person does or does not match up with the convictions on record.

Give the person search feature a try, and as always we welcome comments / suggestions on our new feature at info@rochester911.com.
